The Xbox handheld is a collaboration with Asus ROG Ally teases trailer
The power and performance of the Xbox Series S can now be taken anywhere. xScreen™ is a fully integrated folding screen that seamlessly attaches onto 5/5(22). Rumours about an Xbox portable console made by a third party company appear to have come true, with a peculiar new teaser trailer from Asus. Who that partner might be was never named, but likely suspects included Lenovo, MSI, Razer, and Asus. And now it seems as if the latter is the one Microsoft has chosen to work with. The apparent confirmation comes from a new trailer from Asus, that shows the existing Asus ROG Ally and an Xbox controller being combined together into what is implied to be a new piece of hardware. Although Microsoft has been talking about making a handheld for a while now, with Xbox boss Phil Spencer having frequently talked about how much he admires Steam Deck and similar hardware, a recent report revealed that none of them have seen any true mainstream success. The whole category of gaming portable has only sold a few million worldwide and putting this new Xbox-branded console up against the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is certainly a choice. However, It seems likely that Microsoft wants to establish itself in the handheld space before the Switch 2 completely takes over, so that by the time the next gen Xbox is ready they already have some experience in the market. I turned my Xbox Series S into a gaming laptop with this portable monitor
Cela fait bientôt plus d’un an qu’on entend parler d’une console portable Xbox. Et pour cause, la firme n’a cessé de nous mener sur cette piste à travers des déclarations . The long-running rumors and hints that Microsoft is planning to enter the portable gaming market accelerated forward this week. That's thanks to a Windows Central report that Microsoft is planning to partner with a "PC gaming OEM" for "an Xbox-branded gaming handheld" to be released later this year. The device, code-named Keenan, will reportedly feature "Xbox design sensibilities," such as the branded Xbox guide button, but will almost certainly be a PC gaming device running Windows at its core. Any Microsoft entry into the world of gaming handhelds will join a market that has become quite crowded in the wake of the Steam Deck's success. To make its own portable gaming effort stand apart, Microsoft will have to bring something unique to the table. Here are some of the features we're hoping will let Microsoft do just that. For decades, Windows has been designed first and foremost for the world of large monitors driven by a mouse and keyboard world. When hardware makers try to simply stick that OS into a handheld screen size controlled by buttons and analog sticks, the results can be awkward at best. To be worthy of the Xbox brand, Microsoft needs to design a front-end that is built from the ground up for handheld use case.

Microsoft's alleged Xbox Handheld could arrive this year, and it sounds promising. According to technology media Windows Central, Keenan will be Xbox's first handheld gaming . While there are other reasons I chose the Series S, its small size played a large role in my final decision. There is a caveat though. Since the xScreen plugs directly into the back of the Series S without any additional cables, you do lose access to both of the USB ports as well as the Ethernet port at the back of the console. However, the Storage Expansion slot and the AC power slot are still exposed. If you absolutely need access to all of the ports at the rear of the Series S, then you might be better off with an attachable screen from G-Story or Degpi. As such, I had to figure out a way to expand the number of USB ports available at the front of my Series S in order to use it like a gaming laptop with one of the best gaming keyboards and a gaming mouse. It plugs into the front of the Series S and turns one USB port into four while also featuring a white design that matches the console. This is fine for using a mouse, keyboard and a wired controller like the HyperX Clutch Gladiate but it will certainly limit the speed of any external hard drive you have plugged into your console. After adding those additional USB ports to the front of my Series S, it was time to plug in some peripherals. As this setup is intended to be as portable as possible, I used the Corsair K70 Pro Mini Wireless for my keyboard and the Destiny 2 themed version of the Razer DeathAdder Elite for my mouse.
